How We’re Different
MMPV Design Cooperative occupies a unique niche within the renewable energy industry, specializing in regulatory strategy for energy infrastructure projects.
Historically, much of our work has been on California school campuses. Over time, that experience has expanded into commercial and institutional projects where approval requirements are equally complex. As licensed architects, we are positioned to address accessibility, fire access, and life-safety requirements early in design and carry those interpretations through permitting.
A Focused Practice in a Growing Industry
We are not a general architecture firm balancing multiple building types. Our practice is built around energy infrastructure approvals.
That focus matters.
Solar, EV charging, and battery storage projects operate within tight schedules and layered review processes. These projects often hinge on how building, fire, and accessibility requirements are interpreted in practice.
Creative Problem Solving
Each site presents different constraints. Fire access, separation distances, and accessibility requirements do not always align with production goals.
We approach these conditions as design challenges to solve, drawing on prior experience to identify workable alternatives when standard layouts do not fit.
Transparency
MMPV does not hide its expertise from its clients; on the contrary, staff share knowledge with the solar team to ensure the best possible design. Over time, that transparency has built long-term relationships and earned repeat work.
Direct & Open Communication
Clients and consultants have direct access to our project leaders, who proactively share project status updates. Principals and Senior Project Managers strive to always be available to our clients, whether by phone or email.
Collaboration
Energy projects require alignment between owners, engineers, contractors, and reviewing agencies. We evaluate feasibility, building code, cost, production goals, and user experience together, helping balance competing priorities.
Responsiveness
Solar and energy infrastructure projects tend to be extremely fast-paced. We understand the difference a day can make in the life span of a project. Whether in schematic design or construction administration, our staff is available to address items in real time to prevent schedule delays and increased costs.
Efficiency
Because we focus on this specific project type, our processes are streamlined. While traditional architectural projects can take a year or more, our design and permitting support can be completed within 8–12 weeks, depending on scope and site size.
Our specialization allows us to define the scope clearly and provide precise pricing.

Our experience includes commercial properties, school campuses, and other regulated facilities across the United States. Since 2008, we have supported more than 1000 school and public sector projects and routinely work in jurisdictions with heightened review standards.

If your project involves solar, EV charging, or battery energy storage systems, early architectural input can help clarify permitting requirements and reduce issues during review. We work with project teams to assess scope, constraints, and next steps before design decisions are locked in.
